A relatively new field, furniture design breaks away from all conventional career paths and is the perfect amalgamation of design, craftsmanship, and fashion! It is a highly exciting field, where everyday objects from beds, couches, and shelves to tables and chairs can become a three-dimensional canvas to showcase your creativity on.

From the structure of the design to the colors, materials, upholstery, and patterns, everything needs to be decided by the designer. It is a highly collaborative domain where designers work closely with clients and manufacturers as per the latest market trends, prices, and ergonomics!

Here are 5 classic examples of beautiful furniture pieces designed by famous architects!

1. Red and blue chair

The red and blue chair was designed by Gerrit Rietveld in 1918. The chair depicted the first impression of De-Stilj and was built using Lacquered wood.  

2. Wassily Chair

Designed by Marcel Breuer between 1925- 1926, the chair aimed to simplify the design pattern with a canvas seat, back, and arms.  

3. Taliesin Barrel chairs

Designed by Frank Llyod Wright, the chair was designed from 1920 to 1949 and was constructed with bentwood and natural cherrywood.  

4. Mesa glass table

A table for Vitra called Mesa is designed by Zaha Hadid, the famous mesa depicts movement just like her work in the field of architecture.  

5. Eames lounge chair

Designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1956, this chair consists of a frame constructed using the bentwood technique with an optimal angle for ergonomics and comfort.
