Kaarwan Winter School

Unlike other Winter & Summer Schools, this is a journey crafted to understand and connect with the character of NorthEast India, its identity, and its people via travelling. The idea is to absorb everything we can and make ourselves a part of it. The voyage is set with an aim to understand the versatility & usage of Bamboo, through documentation, design & construction and then realising how it is making our villages a better, sustainable place to live in. At the end of this trip, we wish to leave with the 'Ehsaas' of their culture rooted in our minds and souls. Come, join us!

Workshops & Seminars

Workshops have always been an integral part of Kaarwan. These are the times when we actually learn things to be used. In past, we have learned about earthquake resistant techniques, mud brick construction, earthbag construction, sustainable environments, bamboo architecture and techniques, natural building materials, hilly area settlements and organic farming. Learn more about previous workshops via social media.

Lectures & Discussions

It is always good to learn from the masters themselves. In the past, we have had Architects & personalities like Ar. Karan Grover, Didi Contractor, Ar. Richard Belho, Ar. Laurent Fournier, Ar. Anjan Mitra, Mr. Mark Moore, Prof. A. K. Singh & Ar. Pem Gyaltsen for discussions. Apart from architecture, lectures also cover Cultural and Geographical aspects responsible for the evolution of architectural style.
